Basketball Game Preview: Memphis Cyclones vs. Lefors Pirates

Having just played yesterday, the Memphis Cyclones will jump right back in to play the Lefors Pirates at 10:20 a.m. on Friday. Memphis is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Memphis not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since December 10, 2024 (when they won 82-21). They claimed a resounding 73-27 win over San Jacinto Christian Academy.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memphis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Armando Saenz, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Saenz's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Ismael Rodriguez was another key player, going 7-for-15 en route to 15 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals.

Memphis smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Lefors took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They snuck past Highland Park with a 44-39 victory.

Memphis' win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lefors, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.

Everything came up roses for Memphis against Lefors when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured an 87-55 win. Do the Cyclones have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
