Basketball Recap: Huntington Park Takes a Loss

Huntington Park and Downtown Magnets squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Huntington Park had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Downtown Magnets Suns by a score of 55-52. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 63-55 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Downtown Magnets' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justin Huang, who posted 18 points and seven steals. Huang continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Lei, who earned seven points along with 13 rebounds and five steals.

Huntington Park dropped their record down to 8-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Downtown Magnets, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.

Huntington Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Downtown Magnets, they will be playing at home against Triumph Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Triumph Charter comes in on seven and Downtown Magnets on five.
