Baseball Game Preview: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs vs. Rocky River Pirates

The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Rocky River Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rocky River took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Olmsted Falls, who comes in off a win.

Olmsted Falls is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Avon on Tuesday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 6-3. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly three runs.

Luke Perkins was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Perkins was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

Perkins wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Norton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Nate Hrabnicky also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Rocky River and Normandy meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Pirates fell just short of the Invaders by a score of 9-7. The Pirates' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Olmsted Falls' win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Rocky River, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.
