Basketball Recap: University Prep Art & Design Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

While University Prep Art & Design didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past the Westfield Prep Warriors with a 60-56 win on Sunday. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Warriors are ranked 387th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for University Prep Art & Design and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points over those games. As for Westfield Prep, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

University Prep Art & Design will wrap up 2025 with a road trip to face off against Lake Shore at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Westfield Prep has already played their next contest (against Center Line Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
