Baseball Recap: Cathedral City Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Cathedral City hadn't beaten Desert Hot Springs on the road since March 22, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Lions walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Golden Eagles. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 11-7 victory on Monday.

Moses Tinajero was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ozzy Garcia was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Cathedral City's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Desert Hot Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

Looking ahead, Cathedral City will be taking part in a tournament against Xavier Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Desert Hot Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
