Basketball Recap: Jersey Extends Winning Streak to Three

Jersey waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Collinsville Kahoks by a score of 53-42. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Kahoks, too.

Jersey's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Smith, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 19 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Smith a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (83%). Meredith Gray was another key player, going 7-for-14 to rack up 18 points.

Jersey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Jersey pushed their record up to 17-13 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 20.8 points. As for Collinsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.

Coming up, Jersey will venture away from home to square off against Waterloo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Collinsville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-29 defeat against O'Fallon on the 11th.
