Football Game Preview: Panther Valley Panthers vs. Mahanoy Area Golden Bears

Panther Valley is 0-7 against Mahanoy Area since September of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Panthers will square off against the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. Mahanoy Area took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Panther Valley, who comes in off a win.

Panther Valley not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 11, 2024 (when they won 32-0). They breezed past Shenandoah Valley to the tune of 35-8. With the Panthers ahead 35-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Brody Breiner went supernova, throwing for 153 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushing for 32 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two). A healthy portion of that aerial production (99 yards to be exact) went to Gavin Yuricheck, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Panther Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shenandoah Valley only rushed for 121.

Meanwhile, Mahanoy Area played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Tri-Valley 42-7. The Golden Bears were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Panther Valley's win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Mahanoy Area, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Panther Valley was dealt a bruising 35-0 defeat at the hands of Mahanoy Area in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
