Softball Recap: Jacksonville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Jacksonville hadn't done well against Havelock recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cardinals walked away with a 5-1 win over the Rams. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lauren Weston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kendall Kellum was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Bailey Weston was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Jacksonville's record is now 5-9. As for Havelock, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will challenge D.H. Conley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Havelock, they will take on Swansboro at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
