Basketball Recap: Boulder Creek's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

After a string of six wins, Boulder Creek's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took an 84-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Lions. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (66), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Boulder Creek lost, don't look at Andrew Bhesania. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Bhesania a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mick Riordan, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 20 points.

Even though they lost, Boulder Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only racked up 11 assists.

Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Hunter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. TJ Harris was another key player, going 5 for 6 en route to 17 points and four steals.

Boulder Creek's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 16-5. As for Liberty, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boulder Creek has already played their next game (against O'Connor), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Liberty will head out to take on Pinnacle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pinnacle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Liberty likes a good challenge.
