Basketball Recap: Southampton Takes a Loss

Southampton won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 65-17 loss at the hands of the Brunswick Bulldogs. The Indians lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 52-34 score last time.

Southampton's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Brunswick, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 13-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southampton will head out to face off against Sussex Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southampton is facing Sussex Central at the right time seeing as Sussex Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Brunswick, they will head out on the road to challenge Greensville County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brunswick knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Greensville County likes a good challenge.
