Recap: Hebbronville Longhorns vs. Banquete Bulldogs
The Hebbronville Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Banquete. Hebbronville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Banquete apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeffery Shreve, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alejandro Vasquez, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Hebbronville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Banquete, their win ended a 15-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-17.
Hebbronville will take on San Diego at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. San Diego presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hebbronville in Texas (San Diego is ranked 664th, while Hebbronville is ranked 1565th). As for Banquete, they will head out on the road to face off against Falfurrias at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Falfurrias' favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home while Banquete has been banged up by 17 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
