Volleyball Game Preview: Palmer Bulldogs vs. Scurry-Rosser Wildcats

Palmer is 1-9 against Scurry-Rosser since September of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Palmer turned things around against Blooming Grove on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lions by a score of 3-1.

The win didn't come easy: Blooming Grove scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20.

Palmer relied on the efforts of Zoe Zhanel, who had 14 digs, and Kinsli Plough, who had ten digs and ten assists. Those 14 digs gave Zhanel a new career-high.

Palmer was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 20 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Scurry-Rosser made easy work of Rice on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory.

Scurry-Rosser walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-19, 25-19, 25-15.

Scurry-Rosser's victory bumped their record up to 22-6. As for Palmer, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 21-7.

Palmer skirted past Scurry-Rosser 3-2 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
