Softball Recap: Stanwood Wins Going Away Against Burlington-Edison

Stanwood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Burlington-Edison, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Stanwood blew past Burlington-Edison 11-1 on Saturday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.

Stanwood got a massive performance out of Rubi Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave Lopez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jemma Lopez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Rubi wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Stanwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Stanwood and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Burlington-Edison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanwood will venture away from home to face off against Edmonds-Woodway at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Stanwood 1.8, Edmonds-Woodway 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Burlington-Edison, they are taking a road trip to square off against Everett at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Burlington-Edison is facing Everett at the right time seeing as Everett is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
