Softball Recap: Dixie County Comes Up Short

Dixie County extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-11. They came up short against the Trenton Tigers, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 two weeks ago.

As for Trenton, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Trenton's part, MacKenzie Fisher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Fisher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Addilynn Welbers was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Alexsandra Faught, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie County will face off against Newberry at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Trenton, they will challenge Holmes County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Devils have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
