Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Hunterdon Central

Hunterdon Central proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders. Winning may never get old, but the Red Devils sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Riley Cooke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hunterdon Central's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cam Tucker, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Hunterdon Central's record is now 17-14. As for Scotch Plains-Fanwood, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-13.

Looking ahead, Scotch Plains-Fanwood will square off against J.P. Stevens on Tuesday. Hunterdon Central will be paying especially close attention to the Raiders' game: after the Raiders face off against the Hawks, they'll take on Hunterdon Central again at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
