Basketball Recap: Thomas West's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Peck over Kingston

Peck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 44-23 to the Kingston Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Cardinals are ranked 247th).

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Thomas West, who posted eight points in addition to 12 boards and three blocks. West has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Cal Heiden was another key player, putting up seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Austin DeRoseau was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 13 on his way to 21 points for Kingston. Another player making a difference was Nick Cummings, who had seven points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Peck's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Kingston, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Peck has already played their next contest (against North Huron), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Kingston will look to defend their home court on Monday against Richmond at 7:30 p.m.
