Softball Recap: Orangewood Academy Spartans vs. Academy for Academic Excellence Knights
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Orangewood Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights 8-6.
For Academy for Academic Excellence's part, Paityn Thibodeaux was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Thibodeaux has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last five times she's played. Kayla Berg was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-5.
Orangewood Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-3-2.
