Poway has gone 7-2 against La Costa Canyon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Titans will face off against the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Poway will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Del Norte, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Titans had just enough and edged out the Nighthawks 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since April 4th.

Poway was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 25-21, 23-25, 23-25, 25-17, 16-14.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only La Costa Canyon walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Wolverines on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won three in a row.

La Costa Canyon was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-14, 20-25, 22-25, 15-5.

Poway better keep an eye on Gerrit Van Glabbeek. He was instrumental in La Costa Canyon's win, getting 14 digs and five assists. Those 14 digs gave Van Glabbeek a new career-high.

Poway is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-16 record this season. As for La Costa Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-18.

Poway couldn't quite get it done against La Costa Canyon when the teams last played back in April as they fell 3-1. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
