Basketball Game Preview: North Canyon Rattlers vs. Desert Edge Scorpions

The North Canyon Rattlers will head out on the road to square off against the Desert Edge Scorpions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Tuesday, North Canyon took a blow against Buckeye, falling 82-14. The matchup marked the Rattlers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Desert Edge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were dealt a 64-9 loss at the hands of Canyon View. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Jaguars are ranked 26th).

Desert Edge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for North Canyon, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

North Canyon didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Desert Edge in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 39-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Canyon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
