Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Eagles vs. Lehigh Lightning

The Gateway Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Lehigh Lightning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Gateway got the win against Lehigh by a conclusive 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Blake Daring tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gateway let Brady Miller and Anthony Medina run wild. Miller went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Medina scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI Miller has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Devyn Vitiello, who scored two runs and stole Two bases.

Gateway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Lehigh dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
