Preview: Dove Creek Bulldogs vs. Lyons Lions

Dove Creek has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Lyons Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dove Creek had no problem doing just that on Saturday. Everything went their way against Vail Christian as Dove Creek made off with a 54-34 win. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

Colten Fury got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 209 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Nic Aragon also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Lyons put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Akron 60-12 on the road. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lyons had established a 42 point advantage.

Miles Dumbauld continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 231 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Malik Sigg-Brown was another key contributor, rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.

Their wins bumped Dove Creek to 8-2 and Lyons to 10-0.

We should be in store for an exciting game Saturday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Dove Creek has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 381 total yards per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been even better at 390 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.
