Recap: Peetz Bulldogs vs. Otis Bulldogs
The Peetz Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They were outmatched by Otis at home and fell 60-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Peetz in their matchups with Otis: they've now lost six in a row.
Peetz struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Otis racked up 24 assists.
Otis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alli Hornung, who scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. It was the first time this season that Hornung scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Willeke, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Otis' lineup was just a bit different on Thursday as Kayce Perry got a bit more time on the court (21 vs. her season average of 9.17). Perry made the most of the opportunity, scoring four points along with five assists and five rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Peetz dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.3 points per game. As for Otis, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peetz will take on Weldon Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Peetz focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Thursday. As for Otis, they will head out on the road to square off against Prairie at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Otis has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
