Baseball Game Preview: Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers vs. Lookout Valley Yellowjackets

Howard Tech hasn't had much luck against Lookout Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers will host the Lookout Valley Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. Lookout Valley took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Howard Tech, who comes in off a win.

Howard Tech is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Berean Academy a 17-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Hustlin' Tigers as it spelled an end to their 17-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Camper Colter was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, O'Dareyon Cox looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Marques Blackburn was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Zaire McCrary, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lookout Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 14-1 to South Pittsburg.

Lookout Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cason O'Connor, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that O'Connor brought in this season.
