Volleyball Recap: Boardman Beats Cardinal Mooney for Their Eighth Straight Win

Boardman had already won seven in a row and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They blew past the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals 3-0. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Boardman was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-20, 25-12.

Maya Flores paced Boardman's offense, picking up 23 kills. Flores got some help from Gianna Commons and her 23 assists. Finally, Ava Gaps kept Boardman's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Boardman's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Cardinal Mooney, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Boardman will head out to face off against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cardinal Mooney, after both having extra time off, they and Columbiana will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th.
