Basketball Recap: Charlotte Clarke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Battle Ground over Heritage

After flying high against Hudson's Bay last Thursday, Battle Ground came back down to earth. The Battle Ground Tigers took a 56-41 bruising from the Heritage Timberwolves on Thursday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Timberwolves earlier this season, when they won 41-25.

Battle Ground lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Charlotte Clarke, who posted nine points and seven boards. Clarke is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Charlie Jones was another key player, putting up five points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Battle Ground smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Battle Ground's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Heritage, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.

Battle Ground didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-27 defeat against Kalama on the 20th. Heritage has also already played their next game, a 52-49 loss against Elma on the 20th.
