Baseball Recap: Gilmer County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Van on Saturday, Gilmer County came back down to earth. The Titans took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lincoln Cougars on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Kolten Holbert and Jacob Stewart did some serious damage despite the final result: Holbert went 2-for-3 with one run and one double, while Stewart went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Gilmer County's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Lincoln, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilmer County will square off against South Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln, they will face off against Lewis County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Minutemen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.31 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
