The Hampshire Trojans will take on the PikeView Panthers at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Last Friday, Hampshire didn't have quite enough to beat East Hardy and fell 8-7.
Mason Slade was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in hits (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Channing Wilt made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Adam Riggleman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, PikeView waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Seahawks as they made off with a 13-6 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Like Hampshire, PikeView also got a great game from a two-way player: Landon Wyatt. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Wyatt has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
PikeView's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Hampshire, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hampshire has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like PikeView struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
