Basketball Recap: Neshoba Central Comes Up Short

After flying high against Jefferson Davis County on Saturday, Neshoba Central came back down to earth. The Rockets took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Starkville Yellowjackets on Tuesday. The Rockets have struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Neshoba Central lost, don't look at Kyli Truss. Despite the final result, she shot 67% from beyond the arc en route to 37 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Truss now owns an excellent 47.5% shooting accuracy. Madison Charlie also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Neshoba Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Starkville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Neshoba Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-54 victory against Choctaw Central on the 13th. As for Starkville, they have also already played their next game, a 66-29 win against Columbus on the 13th.
