Basketball Recap: CSTHEA Takes a Loss

CSTHEA has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by the Bluegrass Blazers 80-50 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 159th in Tennessee, while the Blazers are ranked 43rd in Kentucky).

Despite the loss, CSTHEA still got an impressive performance from Ivan Huffman, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Huffman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Phillip Johnson, who posted ten points.

CSTHEA's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Bluegrass, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

CSTHEA wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-10 win against Grace Baptist Academy on the 8th. Hopefully Bluegrass paid attention to the Patriots' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2026.
