Softball Recap: Mt. Diablo Takes a Loss

Mt. Diablo had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-15 to make it seven. They fell 6-1 to the Miramonte Matadors. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Mt. Diablo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dazzelynn Alon, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Alon has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

As for Miramonte, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.

On Miramonte's side, Abby Warren spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 14 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gianna Granzella, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Talia Hagan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mt. Diablo is set to face off against their familiar foe Ygnacio Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Miramonte will square off against rival Campolindo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
