Recap: Lee Volunteers vs. Johnson Jaguars
The Lee Volunteers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came out on top against Johnson by a score of 65-53. Given Lee's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Johnson is ranked 395th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lee found their leader in underclassman Rosanelly Pastrano, who scored 25 points along with 3 steals. The matchup was Pastrano's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Alvarez, who scored 10 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Lee is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Johnson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Lee will take on Jay at TBD on Thursday. Hopefully Jay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for Johnson, they will face off against Madison at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
