Baseball Recap: Beatrice Orangemen vs. Elkhorn North Wolves
Beatrice extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-7. They lost 11-0 to the Elkhorn North Wolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Orangemen of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
As for Elkhorn North, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
For Elkhorn North's part, they got a great performance from Max Yager as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Yager a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Ethan Asmus was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Carson Driever, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
