Soccer Recap: Gateway Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Gateway was not quite Mariner's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They lost 4-1 to the Mariner Tritons. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Tritons are ranked 21st).

Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 10-5-3. As for Mariner, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Gateway will venture away from home to face off against Lehigh at 7:30 p.m. on January 14th. As for Mariner, they will host Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mariner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.8 goals per game this season.
