Basketball Game Preview: Castlewood Blue Devils vs. Tazewell Bulldogs

The Castlewood Blue Devils and the Tazewell Bulldogs will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Castlewood and 25 for Tazewell dating back to last season.

On Tuesday, Castlewood was beaten by J.I. Burton 68-28. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while the Black Raiders are ranked 67th).

Meanwhile, Tazewell had to suffer through a 67-16 loss at the hands of Lebanon.

Tazewell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Castlewood, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything came up roses for Castlewood against Tazewell when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 54-9 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Castlewood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
