Southwestern Heights hadn't done well against Stanton County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Trojans 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since September 16th.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Southwestern Heights who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 25-20.

Lacie Banman paced Southwestern Heights' offense, picking up ten kills. Banman got some help from Mariah Mendoza and her 20 assists. Lindanis Puentes controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

The win got Southwestern Heights back to even at 10-10. As for Stanton County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8-2.

Coincidentally, Southwestern Heights and Stanton County will both be playing Wichita County the next time they take the court. The Trojans will host the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mustangs will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
