Union City had won four straight home games and Elijah Payne did his part to make it five on Thursday. The Union City Chargers had just enough and edged out the Concord Yellowjackets 52-49 for which the team can thank Payne, who on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. What's more, he also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024.

Concord lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Connor Stevens, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. He is becoming a predictor of Concord's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 10-3 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Jett Smith was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Union City is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. Concord's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Union City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-36 loss against Lumen Christi Catholic on the 22nd. Concord does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
