Softball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Lancers vs. Nonnewaug Chiefs
Notre Dame Prep had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 10-10 to make it four. They lost 12-6 to the Nonnewaug Chiefs. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Chiefs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Nonnewaug, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 19-0. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won 16 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
For Nonnewaug's part, Scarlett Ivey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Ivey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Jordan Kovach was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Elizabeth Boisits was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Prep will venture away from home to challenge Ellington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nonnewaug, they will head out to square off against New Fairfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
