Basketball Recap: Owen Haggarty Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lee Park Prep

Union Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Haggarty led the charge by shooting 47% from the field on his way to 20 points and three steals. The Cardinals are undefeated when Haggarty posts 15 or more points, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Short, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards.

Despite the loss, Lee Park Prep still got an impressive performance from Cole O' Donoghue, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 20 points and three steals. O' Donoghue is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaac Watkins, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten assists.

The win got Union Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Lee Park Prep, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4.

Coming up, Union Academy will head out to face off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lee Park Prep, they have already played their next game, a 65-52 loss against Metrolina Christian Academy on the 9th.
