Football Recap: El Dorado Wildcats vs. Benton Panthers
El Dorado lost against Benton back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats came up short against the Panthers, falling 60-36. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, El Dorado still got an impressive performance from Cannon Jacobs, who rushed for 133 yards and three scores while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, and also threw for 258 yards on 15 of 30 attempts.
El Dorado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Spencer Poole and Winston Williams.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Benton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drew Davis, who rushed for 77 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per attempt. What's more, Davis racked up 117.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Will Carter was Davis' top target, picking up 148 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
El Dorado's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Benton, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
