Softball Game Preview: Shadyside Tigers vs. Beallsville Blue Devils

Shadyside is a perfect 7-0 against Beallsville since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will head out to square off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, Shadyside came up short against Bridgeport and fell 8-3. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ariana Saxton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shadyside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Harris, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Harris' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Beallsville's offense. They lost 15-0 to Madonna on Friday. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Blue Dons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Beallsville now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Shadyside, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything went Shadyside's way against Beallsville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Shadyside made off with a 23-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
