Baseball Recap: Cascade's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Cascade came tearing into Wednesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Cannon County Lions on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 last Tuesday.

Cascade got a great performance from Caleb Crouch as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Crouch has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Xykaiah Dixon was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Childress, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cascade was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon County only posted a batting average of .059.

Cascade pushed their record up to 12-3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cannon County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Coming up, Cascade will head out to challenge Blackman at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cannon County, they will face off against Providence Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
