Softball Recap: Laguna Creek Triumphs

Laguna Creek hadn't done well against Cosumnes Oaks recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Wolfpack 8-7. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by just one run.

Nikiya Jumpingbull spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Mia Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Aundrea Jackson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

The win made it two in a row for Laguna Creek and bumps their season record up to 7-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Laguna Creek didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-7 victory against Folsom on the 21st. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they have also already played their next game, an 8-5 loss against Elk Grove on the 21st.
