Baseball Recap: Western Pioneers vs. Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros
Western extended their losing streak to 19 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-21 in the process. They came up short against the Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros, falling 10-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vaqueros this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-0 defeat on Tuesday.
As for Rancho Alamitos, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games.
For Rancho Alamitos' part, Matthew Arguelles made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Rancho Alamitos is 4-1 when Arguelles allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Arguelles was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
