The Firelands Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Wellington Dukes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Firelands is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, Firelands came up short against Keystone and fell 8-3. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Sarah Blankenship made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Columbia hit Wellington with a seven-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dukes lost 11-1 to the Raiders. The Dukes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wellington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Denes, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Wellington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Firelands, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Firelands has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Wellington struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Firelands' way against Wellington in their previous matchup back in April, as Firelands made off with a 15-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
