Softball Preview: St. James Tigers vs. Crocker Lions        
        
		
             St. James is 1-7 against Crocker since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when  Tigers faces off against the Crocker Lions at 4:30  p.m. They took a loss in their last  match and will be looking to turn the tables on St. James, who comes in off a win.
 Having struggled with three  losses in a row, St. James finally turned things around against Newburg  on Monday. They blew past the Wolves 26-10.
  Hope Pierce was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three  runs, four  RBI,  and a  triple. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  hits.  Brooke Williams was another key player,  scoring four  runs and  stealing four bases while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, St. James  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with five  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 Meanwhile, Crocker lost  16-4 to Waynesville on Monday. The Lions have now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 St. James' win  ended  a  16-game drought on the road  dating back to last season and  puts them at 5-19. As for Crocker, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.
 St. James might still be hurting after the  8-2 loss they got from Crocker  in their previous matchup  back in October of 2023. Can St. James avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
