Purcell and Washington are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Dragons will welcome the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Tuesday, Purcell made easy work of Cache and carried off a 12-1 win.

Meanwhile, Washington has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.5 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Heritage Hall with a sharp 18-10 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Warriors, who have now won three contests in a row.

Jackson Mays was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Andrews, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Purcell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
