Softball Game Preview: Americas Trail Blazers vs. El Paso Tigers

For the second straight game, Americas will face off against El Paso. The Trail Blazers will host the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Americas is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Americas' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over El Paso. The Trail Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by six runs or more this season.

Zoe O'Hara made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Miley Rodriguez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabelle Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Americas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Americas is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-15 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for El Paso, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-21.

El Paso's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Americas has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for El Paso, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Americas' sizable advantage in that area, the Tigers will need to find a way to close that gap.
