Basketball Recap: Seymour Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Seymour was feeling good fresh off their 73-44 takedown of Oxford last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Seymour Wildcats lost to the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans at home by a 64-48 margin on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Seymour still got an impressive performance from Joey Carrafiello, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 41.7% of Seymour's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Hamilton, who put up 15 points and five rebounds.

Seymour's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3. As for Waterbury Career Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will face off against Crosby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Crosby's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Waterbury Career Academy, they will challenge Wilby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Waterbury Career Academy's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Wilby has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
