Preview: Dripping Springs Tigers vs. Akins Eagles
Dripping Springs is 7-0 against Akins since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Dripping Springs Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Akins Eagles at 8:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Dripping Springs suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-31 loss at the hands of Bowie. While losing is never fun, Dripping Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 966th, while Bowie is ranked 287th).
Meanwhile, Akins' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 44-25 bruising from Anderson.
This is the second loss in a row for Dripping Springs and nudges their season record down to 6-16. As for Akins, their loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-13.
Dripping Springs took their win against Akins in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 45-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dripping Springs since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
