Softball Recap: Sun Valley Spartans vs. Butler Bulldogs
Sun Valley took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Butler, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Sun Valley Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Butler Bulldogs on Thursday. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 11-3 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.
Gretchen Daniel (2028) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Kendall Smith (2026) was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Gracyn Hawk (2026) also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Sun Valley now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Looking ahead, Sun Valley will host Cuthbertson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Butler, they will venture away from home to challenge Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
